THE COMING OF CHRIST
Unlike in this day and country's traditions, in the Jewish culture, when a man had identified a lady he wanted to marry, he would pledge to marry her and tell her he was going to prepare his parents and come to the girls home at an unknown date. Now the girl would go back home and tell her parents and stay prepared awaiting her groom. Since the day of the visit was unknown she had to always be prepared. Iam reminded of the parable of the ten virgins and the groom.
Now the other day in Kenya we had tremors and almost immediately jokes went round on how the last day would be. Someone even jokingly asked if anyone had heard the trumpet. It got to me how the last day is associated with fear not only among non believers but also believers. Whenever people arise on stories about the coming of Christ few are excited.
And its in this line that Jesus asks in Luke 18..."Will I find faith?''
Our prime purpose and work everyday as we walk this walk of faith is to "work out our salvation... (Phil 2:12) As the body of Christ it should be in our daily plan to stay prepared for the groom. Should the trumpet sound may we receive it in joy!
God bless!
