THERE IS MORE TO IT.
JOHN1.42
Jesus looked at him and said,'So you are Simon the son of John? You shall be called Cephas'
We all probably know Simon Peter, Jesus' bestfriend. He belonged to the inner circle of Jesus. However, Simon had his fair share of flaws. He was hot tempered, he even denied Jesus after promising to die with Him. Despite all this, he be are the leader of the church and this is where we see Jesus identifying him. He named him Cephas. Cephas means the rock so typically Jesus was telling Him 'you are the rock on which I'll build my church on'. But before that...Jesus had identified that Yes he was the son of Jonah. And still went like ' yes you are the son of Jonah yes you are hot tempered yes you have all your flaws but still you are Cephas the rock!'
Many times we forget or rather refuse to see the Cephas in other people. We only look at people and their flaws and judge them. We forget that there is something good in everyone.
The same happens to our situations. We fail to look at the good and positive side of our situation.
We become so consumed with the package that we forget the potential.
Jesus is teaching us to learn to look at the Cephas side of everything and everyone and we will have a better world today.
