OBEDIENCE TO THE PROMISE

Our point of reference today will be Abrahams life. Abraham lived a life of faith thus the name, father of faith. We learn of various promises from God to Abram but one thing stands out clearly was that God was pleased with Abrams faith.

One of the promises was that he would get a son and one of the instances where Abraham showed extraordinary faith was the encounter when he had to sacrifice his son. Please note that Abraham had already got his promise but still took a step of faith that could affect the fulfilled promise. What was Abraham doing? Abraham was OBEDIENT TO THE PROMISE not TO GET THE PROMISE.

There is a big difference between those two phrases. See if you go to church so that God can bless you with lets say better grades or maybe a car, You are OBEDIENT TO GET THE PROMISE, if your objective in worship is to get something from God, you are in the latter group.

Remember As recorded in 1Samuel that God looks not at out appearances(portraying a picture of a holier than thou believer) but looks at the heart. This explains why maybe....just maybe some prayers haven't been answered yet because they are prayed wrongly.

It is important to know that God is not your ATM. With ref. to a previous article I had posted...I will remind you that HOW YOU KNOW GOD IS HOW YOU WILL RELATE TO HIM AND RECEIVE FROM HIM!!
