EASTER CELEBRATIONS

As we celebrate Easter many of Us Christians have forgotten or rather lost the real meaning of Easter. Let's try and look at what our Saviour went through just so that You and I don't have to sacrifice animals to seek Him.

At the age of 33 Jesus was condemned to death. At that time crucifixion was the worst form of punishment and death. Only the worst criminals were condemned to be crucified. Each nail was 6-8 inches long. The nails were driven into his wrist. Not into His hands as it is commonly portrayed. There is a tendon in the wrist that extends to the shoulder. The roman guards knew that the nails were being hammered into the wrist and that that tendon would tear and break, forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support himself so that He could breathe.
Both of His feet were nailed together, thus he was forced to support himself on the single nail that impaled His feet to the cross. Jesus could not support himself with His legs because of the pain so He was forced to alternate between arching His back then using his legs just to continue to breathe. Imagine the struggle, the pain, the suffering, the courage. Jesus endured all this for over three hours.
Can you imagine this kind of suffering for 3hrs? A few mins before He died, he stopped bleeding, He was simply pouring water from His wounds. A Roman guard then pierced His side with a spear. Before all this he was whipped and beaten, a whipping so severe that it tore His flesh from His body. The beating was so horrific that His beard was ripped of His face.
There was a crown of thorns that cut deeply into His scalp. Most men would not have survived this torture. The Human adult contains 3.5l of blood. Jesus lost all these and started dripping water. All these without mentioning the humiliation He suffered after carrying His own cross for almost 2Kms, while the crowd spat in His face and threw stones at Him. Have I mentioned the cross was almost 30kgs and this was only for the upper part just to mention a piece of what He really went through.

Jesus endured all this to open the gates of heaven. He endured all this for you to be saved. He went through all these thinking of you. So that all your sins could be washed away. All with no exception. So when He said IT IS FINISHED, I hope it dawns on us that truly he meant it and we should stop living in condemnation!

God bless!
