GIVE THANKS
1 Thess 5:18 GIVE THANKS in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ for you.
Today I took my baby brother to hospital. My parents decided that we go to the referral hospital around. When we arrived,we were hit by the cries of children. Walking around the paediatric ward, I could not help but sympathize with those babies. Some of them did not even come with their parents and were under the mercies of the brutal nurses. I was compelled to ask about some of the cases there and came to learn that some of them had been brought from children's homes and would only return after their well. After a while, lights went out and the doctors could not carry out a lab test on my brother and we were told to go home and return after a while. Well, I am seated at the doctors office next to one of the wards looking at a child who is on oxygen supply. See, lab test will not be carried out for my brother but what about this baby who is depending on oxygen who if I have not mentioned his machine uses electricity. Ofcourse being an analyst, It shocks me that a referral hospital in such a great county would lack a generator.
But that not being the case, this got me thinking I am here ranting about the poor services in our hospitals but how many times do I thank God for good health?
Good health, life among other nitigrities we have been blessed with are some of the things we have taken so lightly in our day to day living. We are so used to waking up every morning and not being in a hospital ward that we forget to thank God. We behave so much like what I had called in an earlier devotional,FIREBRIGADE CHRISTIANS, and only become active in prayer when we have a sick relative or we are sick or whatever other crisis. Paul urges us to be thankful always.
Let's start appreciating God for the small areas in our lives, our families, gift of having a roof over your head, food, water, clothings, everything and we shall lead happier lives for we will be focusing on the things we have rather than what we don't.
God bless!
