DOING IT
James 1:22 Do not merely be hearers of the word by do what it says
My mother tells me a lot of things and as a teenager I listen to maybe half or let's bring reality on point a quarter of what she says;am a teenager and I think it comes with the job description but nevertheless am working on the hearing part. Anyway, recently she said something that struck me so hard and I thought I should share it. So she was watching something and commented 'Natasha, as you continue walking in faith remember Christiniaty is not the church but the heart.' Well I didn't quite understand it then but the statement began sinking in slowly.
Let me bring it this way. Many of us will flock or have flocked our churches today or any other Sunday forthwith and not only listen to the word but also take notes. Good job! But now the problem comes when by Tuesday we can't remember even the title of the sermon. Our walk of faith is not a matter of dressing up to go and spend two hours in the church buildings. Don't get me wrong I love the church and always look forward to Sunday but we can listen to all the sermons by the best preachers all round but the point that matters is the application of this word to our daily living.
Let us not just hype the church on Sunday and forget the doing part of the word because the bearing fruits in our living is the part that matters. During one of a Bible Study Session I attended, a friend of mine told us that we are the 67th book of The Bible. I submit to you that the books of the Bible are not present just by saying, but the authors had to hear the word from God and put it down in writing. Same thing to us, to present ourselves as the 67th book let's purpose to put into practice the Word we hear.
God bless!
