KNOWING GOD VS KNOWING ABOUT GOD

If I ask you tell me about the US 44^th president, Barak Obama, you can only have so much to tell. Say, his wife is Michelle, they have two amazing daughters, he went to law school, he was a senator, he is left handed, traces his routes to Kenya etc. There is only so much he has let out to the public. But there are things we don’t know or few people know, say his fears, his insecurities and others. This traces to other celebrities as well. There is only so much we know about public figures. All this we know about them is based on what we hear from others, what has been written and so on.

Now some of us have applied this same relationship with God. You only know about Him. You can only describe Him from what you have been told. We have failed to take time to get to know this God for who He is. You hear He is faithful but you haven’t had the chance to experience His faithfulness because you haven’t let Him in. Pst.Steven Furtick says, the culture of today is that we worship what we think is the will of God, instead of worshiping God. Instead of coming to a place of relationship God has become more like a resource for us. And this does not mean we are not Christians, no! It doesnt mean you dont love God. It just means, we are at a place of not recognising the voice of God and His intent for all He says. That even if He says something thats not appeasing to us, we recognise He is saying it with all love.

Now you can only know this God if you purposely spend time to know Him. Commune with Him. At the place of prayer and meditation of the word is the perfect place to get to know Him for who He is. Our lead verse tells us, FOR THOSE WHO KNOW THEIR GOD WILL DO EXPLOITS. Desire to know this God!
